Trio Promotes “Triangle” in Beijing

Three popular Hong Kong directors play pass-the-parcel in the film “Triangle”. The trio of cultural icons- Ringo Lam, Tsui Hark and Johnnie To- on Friday attended the film premiere in Beijing.

The crime thriller consists of three difference segments. The segments feature the same cast — including Simon Yam, Louis Koo, and Kelly Lin. Each director helms a segment of the film. Tsui Hark begins by throwing down the gauntlet, establishing characters and a basic narrative drive to things. Lam then carries the story through the main body of the film. To steps in to wrap things up.

The directors have been friends for more than 30 years. Tsui Hark says that they developed the idea to shoot a film together to make sure that they would have a topic to discuss with each other in another 30 years.

Tsui suggests that it was a challenging job for the directors as well as for the actors. “Triangle” is their first and perhaps their final joint project.

“I don’t know when we will collaborate again, maybe it’s the last time.” Tsui says about their future cooperation.
